Just upgraded to WordPress 3.0 just so you know.

As far as I can see, there’s no differences with the way the site looks, it must all be back-end stuff.

I’ve already backed up the site, so feel free to find any exploits in it haha.

Oh also, I’m pretty confident I did really well in my first uni exam!

I’ve..

• Finished off my Core i7 computer
  
• Started using Windows 7
• Set up a Smoothwall firewall for my home network
• Built a fileserver
  
• Started my first semester of University and almost finished it!
• Had some car troubles..(Was going to put the tow truck pic here, but I lost it )
• Bought a Samsung XL2370 LED Monitor
  
• Watched my Smoothwall crumble because of a failed hard disk and no backups
• Bought a HTC Desire (complete with fingerprints!)
• Lost my job a day after I shelled out $750 for a phone.. because of poor and cheap network design by management
• Got a new bike, and fell in love.. with the bike, AND the community

• Started using Flickr again
• Got vanilla OSX 10.6.3 running on my desktop
  
• Started mountain biking and made a helmet mount for my cheapo video camera
• Re-purposed my failed smoothwall as a web server for the blog
• And most recently.. Started up a new forum for QUT students and staff

I’ve put this blog back up (finally).
Not for any particular reason, I’ve just had a server sitting in the other room for a few months doing nothing, and I felt like getting it busy..

So.. yeah, stay tuned for updates, and you might be surprised

I thought I might help you out, because I couldn’t find a single guide on how to do this, but turns out it’s simple.

Mouse acceleration has plagued gamers for a long time, and people have been releasing registry hacks, or system file modifiers to disable it, because MS gave us no way to disable it, until Windows 7.

1. Go to the mouse properties window.
2. Go to Pointer Options
3. Untick Enhance pointer precision

It’s that easy!

Now I know you may be saying that I’m full of shit, and that it slows down the acceleration but doesn’t remove it, but from what I can tell, it totally removes it, even though the same option did not in Vista and XP.

Been thinking, and I think I might change the whole “new distro every month” thing, to every fortnight.

I’m just really itching to try out my next distro, and I feel 100% comfortable in Fedora, a bit too comfortable I think.

I’ll keep you updated.

psst. Instructions are for Fedora 11

1. Kill the GUI – init 3
2. Reinstall all current nvidia drivers – yum reinstall kmod-nvidia-pae kmod-nvidia && nvidia-uninstall
3. Download the newest driver from nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
4. Make the installer executable – chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.36-pkg1.run
5. Install it and follow instructions – ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.36-pkg1.run (modify these last two steps to suit your package)
6. Restart the computer – reboot now

As I said, I’m not sure what worked, but it did!

Let me know if ya need any more help and I’ll see what I can do.
